We had a class on getting a name ready for the temple. The sisters brought a name to the class and went to the Family History Center and went through the process.
Another class was embroidering handkerchiefs with initials and Houston Temple 2000 to be used at the dedication of the Houston Temple in August.
The main lesson for everyone was on tithing. But instead of another lesson on tithing, we opened it up to the sisters bearing their testimonies. We did this at the last of the meeting. It was a wonderful experience.

We had our HFPE meeting last night on Temple Blessings. It went over well so I figured I would share with you sisters what we did:
*We had a temple worker come and speak on “temple blessings.” It was very spiritual! He shared many stories and experiences he has had in his life. It was very touching and enlightening. I was very grateful that he was so willing to travel an hour to come and attend our meeting. He was able to convey to the sisters just how blessed we are by the temples.
*Next class was “Creating a celestial atmosphere in the home.”
*We also had a class to make temple recommend holders. These take about 1 1/2 hrs. to make so they had to be taken home and completed.
*Our taster’s table had a white tablecloth with batting draped over the top to give the effect of clouds. The foods were placed on top. We had the picture of Christ in the clouds on the table with white, porcelain figurines of the Savior. We served white foods. (white cheddar popcorn, white powdered donuts, white cheese ball with crackers, and sandwiches cut in the
shape of a home, on white bread) It looked very nice.

We called our evening “Aspire Higher”
– we did hand out simple invitations to each individual sister.
Our objective for the evening as a RS Presidency and myself as Enrichment leader was to inspire each sister no matter her situation to either prepare herself to attend the temple for the first time, to return to the temple after having not gone for years, or for the faithful to maybe fit in one more session a month. We really stressed the importance of even if you can’t attend the temple that often to be worthy to hold a temple recommend. We also requested Sunday dress. Our evening went as follows
– we had a wonderful seminary teacher who loves to teach share a short 15 minute presentation on the history of Temples and some of the symbolism in the architecture etc. of some of the temples. She shared some information about our temple here in Arizona that was really interesting and was new to lots of us.
–Then a sister shared a 15 minute lesson on the “Blessings of Attending the Temple”. We had previously asked 3 sisters who had recently gone to the temple (either for the first time as an older sister, returning after years of inactivity, and a young 20+ sister) to share their testimonies about their experiences and the importance attending the temple has played in their lives. It was absolutely wonderful — the spirit was so strong.
We had previously received permission from our bishop to hold a testimony meeting. So after the 3 sister’s were finished — we opened it up for the rest of the sisters to bear their testimonies — we asked them to try and keep their testimonies focused on the temple. Almost every sister bore her testimony that evening, we had close to 45 or 50 sisters in attendance. The spirit was so strong and sweet — we have some Spanish sisters in our ward who cannot speak English — one was in attendance that night. She told us afterwards through an interpreter that up until the testimony portion of our meeting she had not understood a word but once testimonies were born she understood what we were saying and expressed thanks for having the testimonies. Through the spirit she was able to understand what we were saying — gives me chills.
At the end of the meeting we presented the sister’s with a temple recommend holder that a few sisters in our ward made along with a cute poem that a sister wrote to go along with it.
Served yummy refreshments! (Cream Cheese Clouds) It was a wonderful night.

We will meet at 6:30 and have a social gathering and refreshments for the first half hour.. (we have really found this to be a great help to get meetings to start on time)
We have invited our stake Relief society Presidency to come speak to us. The talks will be: “We Love Thy House, O Lord” this is given by the Stake Relief Society President and will be given to the single adult girls in a separate room.. she will be talking to them about preparing to go to the temple.
The education counselor will speak on _”Remember me..”(Remembering and keep our Temple Covenants) and the HFPE Counselor on Bringing the Temple feeling to our Homes Refreshments will be a white cake that has a glass temple wedding topper on it.
We also will be giving the sisters all a white lace handkerchief as a handout. We have asked them to come in Sunday dress and we have a special Musical number too.

Theme: “The Lighthouse of the Lord”
Our invitations will have a lighthouse and a quote about the temple being a “lighthouse”.
We’ll be having a special dinner (maybe clam chowder?) and decorate in a nautical theme. The presentation will be centered around a talk given by President Monson entitled “Your Celestial Journey, Safely Sailing the Seas of Life”. We want to present key topics from this talk and then have a guest speaker from the temple presidency. As a gift we are looking at either a picture of a temple & lighthouse poem ready for framing or or a temple hanger with the lighthouse poem.

We are having and idea table on Family Home Evenings. A lady in our ward is in charge of finding things for that and also making copies so that people can take home. We are then having a lady talk on
how we can submit a name to the temple. We are thinking of calling it “Family Search for Dummies”.
The final mini class we are having is on Creating a Celestial Environment in the Home. We are have 5 panel members and I will be the moderator. I will give the panel members some questions that I will be asking them and what specific things we want covered by Sunday.
Also, for our tasting table we are having people bring their favorite Family Home Evening treat.
