Relief Society Activities Binder

I’ve been trying something in my ward and it’s working out well, so I thought I’d share it with you. I pass around an Enrichment binder during Relief Society. The binder contains an e-mail sign up sheet for sisters who would like to receive announcements regarding enrichment via e-mail (I have about 60 e-mail addresses). It’s a great way to remind the sisters about Enrichment and to keep in contact with sisters who serve in Primary or Young Women’s.

The binder also contains a “Getting to Know You” survey I made for people new in the ward. These surveys have been a great aid in planning Enrichment night.

I have a piece of cardstock with clip art and the month’s theme — for
December’s Enrichment the theme was “Unto Us A Child Is Born” and the clip art is Joseph, Mary and Jesus.

After that cardstock sheet, I have folders with left over hand-outs from that months’ Enrichment. This month I had left over recipes (from a cookie exchange) and left over book lists — We have a Literacy Corner every month. A chosen sister brings several worthwhile books and briefly discusses each book. She then offers a list of the books for the sisters to take home. It gives the sisters some good ideas of what’s out there to read. I’ve kept all of the lists and made a cumulative 2004 list that I gave out in December.

Of course, what’s left over each month changes, but the sisters seem to really enjoy the contents of the binder. I find that it helps those sisters who cannot attend Enrichment to feel part of what’s going on.

The binder also serves to advertise Enrichment. The sisters see what they’re missing out on. Since I started using the binder, our attendance has greatly improved. We’ve gone from about 23 sisters a month to around 40.
