Theme: Food Storage

We had a pot luck dinner with recipes using food storage. We decided the menu, provided the recipes and the sisters signed up for what they wanted to bring. We are putting preparedness quizzes (found on Emergency Essential website) on the tables and opening with the food storage song I found on the Relief Society mail list.
The object is to keep sisters aware of the fact that they can cook tasty meals with food storage so they should use it and rotate it.
We are also having classes on canning, first aid kit in a pot holder, and homemade home products.

Mother- Daughter Enrichment Night

We just had our mother/daughter enrichment night this week and it was SO successful! Our theme was country fair (so of course we encouraged everyone to dress country).

Our lesson was on keeping journals and getting to know our parents and grandparents (strengthening those relationships).
Then, our classes were: a country line dance class, an apple crisp class (using apples from our year supplies), and then a pioneer doll making class.

We had mother/daughter pictures as well (we used one of those cardboard cut-out backdrops where they stick their heads through – it was very cute). It was a very simple and fun night. Everyone commented on what a great time they had.

We are starting the secret sister, but only through December. Our lesson is on “Turning your weaknesses into Strengths.” Our class will be on color coding your Patriarchal Blessing.

Herb-centered Home Family and Personal Enrichment.

The title is: “Thyme for Home Family and Personal Enrichment”

Thyme for Growing Herbs- A Master Gardener from the community is speaking on herb gardening.

Thyme for Cooking with Herbs….

Thyme for Creative Potting Ideas— The activity will be planting herbs in some kind of unusual pot they are bringing from home. We are encouraging creative planters – using some cast-off that may not have been intended for a planter as a planter.

There will be a wheelbarrow of potting soil and herb seeds so each sister will get to take an herb start home.

Thyme for a Fresh Look and Your Health and Hygiene– The lesson will be on personal health and hygiene.

The treat will be lavender cookies, dips and other garden herb recipes
