As stake RS president we have had a few “Celebration of Womanhood” evenings that would also work well for larger individual wards. We cater for about 190 stake sisters.

The most recent featured visiting teaching. “Visiting Teaching – a Calling from Above”.

Hymn: 220 Lord. I would follow Thee

Prayer:

Introduction of theme:

Conversation: This was a conversation using a narrator, a ward RS president and a stake RS president. It was used to show the difficulties and time spent in organizing the visiting teaching, yet some sisters approach the president where they don’t want to go visiting teaching at all, they don’t want to go with a particular sister, or visit particular sisters. This shows the problems this presents.

Testimony:

Musical Item: We used the Parable of the Good Samaritan and has an 18 year old sing it Court scene: Using about 6 sisters, we used a court scene where 2 sisters were on trial for “Being in charge of visiting teaching assignment while NOT under the influence of the spirit and carrying our visiting teaching without due care & attention” (This was very funny and went down really well)

Testimony:

Angel Skit: “Touched by an Angel” from Homemaking Cottage.
Closing remarks: Stake president
Hymn: 219 Because I Have Been Given Much

Food was very simple – individual pavlovas with strawberries and fresh cream and a chocolate bar in a visiting teaching wrapper.

Last year’s Celebration was “Women of Qualities”

We asked individual sisters to talk about a particular quality that we felt they possessed. The spirit was very strong as the sisters spoke honestly about many trials and how they overcame them.

ENDURANCE, FRIENDSHIP, POWER, LEARNING, COURAGE, STRENGTH, HUMOR.
