The Station

Enjoy the Journey

A night based around emotional, physical and spiritual health and enjoying where we are in our lives. Details and photos of handouts included.

The Station Handout

The night was based around the story “The Station”. You can find a copy of the story on this website:

Our class teacher gave a 20 minute lesson on this story, then we had 3 mini-classes. First was on Emotional health - this sister is a nurse and she talked about the emotional health of the sisters (some topics were anger, sadness, depression, happiness). We told the teachers that we wanted it to be an interactive lesson. So, this sister had us take a “quiz” about how stressed we are and how that can attribute to anger and other emotions.

Second was Spiritual. This sister talked about how we need to keep ourselves working as a team with the Lord. Her interactive portion was going outside and dividing us into two groups. (We had about 45 sisters show up.) We chose a partner from our team. She had some long pieces of wood (2×8 maybe?) that had some rope loops attached to the right and left sides of the front and back of each piece. This would allow the pair to put their feet on each piece of wood, grabbing the loops, causing the pair to work as a team to move the wood and go from one side to the other. The first team back won. Then, she used that as an example of how we need the Lord to help us.

The third was on physical. We had a sister talk about the importance of physical activity and the benefits of regular activity. She explained how she does a lot of her activity at home, what she does and how to go about it on a budget as well. Although it wasn’t really interactive, she did pass around some of her weights. She had handouts for some workout techniques that can be done from home.

Our refreshments were cut up veggies and fat-free dip and water with sliced lemons. We had a great handout, it was an “Enjoy the Journey” Survival Kit.
I’ve included a picture so you can see what it looked like and here’s the description:

The Station Handout back

I used a 8.5×5.5 piece of cardstock folded in half for the bag topper. I used a Close To My Heart rubber stamp called Mapped Background. I stamped and with soft chalks, chalked each one.

Then, on my computer on the front I printed “Enjoy the Journey” and on the back I printed the following:

Survival Kit
A chocolate kiss to remind you how much you are loved
A match to light your fire when you feel burned out
A Tootsie Roll to remind you not to bite off more than you can chew
Smarties to help you feel smart on days when you don’t
A Starburst to give you a burst of energy when yours is gone
A Laffy-Taffy (we used little Snickers, too) to remind you to take time to laugh
A candle to remind you to brighten someone else’s day and,
a bag to keep it all together!

It was really fun and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I forgot to mention that the survival kit bag topper was stapled onto a clear bag with all the little items in it! (That wasn’t pictured, my boys got to the goodies! LOL!)
