Gospel A-B-C Quiet Book

This book is assembled scrapbook style using scrapbook paper and adhesives to create 8 ½ X 11 inch pages placed in sheet protectors (available through office supply stores).  They are placed in a 3 ring binder or post bound scrapbook and used either as a FHE lesson or for sacrament meeting.

 

 

A  is for Angels   -When Jesus appeared to the people in the Book of Mormon, he blessed the children; then angels descended and encircled the little ones and ministered unto them. (3 Nephi 17:18-25) (The picture we used is called “Heavenly Hands” and can be purchased through Deseret book)

 

B is for Baptize   -When we turn 8 years old, we can be baptized just like Jesus was baptized. (Matthew 3:13-17)  (Here we used a picture of John Baptizing Jesus, also available through DB)

 

C is for Church   -“I always have a happy feeling when I go to church”(CS-157)  (D&C 59:9-10)  (I used a clipart picture I had of a chapel, you can try to find another picture if you can)

 

D is for Daddy   -“I’m so glad when Daddy comes home, glad as I can be.  I clap my hands and shout for joy, then climb upon his knee.” (Here you use a picture of the Daddy in your family)

 

E is for Eternity   -In the temple families are sealed together for time and all eternity. (D&C 132:19) (For this picture we purchased pass along cards with a picture of the SL Temple from Distribution, there are also pictures of other temples that can be purchased through Deseret Book)

 

F is for Family   -“I have a family here on earth, they are so good to me,  I want to share my life with them through all eternity.”  (Use a picture of your family)

 

G is for Grandparents   -“You give me a kiss.  You give me a hug.  You smile when you see me, too.  I wish every child in the whole world had grandparents like you.”  (use pictures of your children’s grandparents)

 

H is for Heavenly Father   -When Joseph Smith went into the sacred grove to pray, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him.  Heavenly Father loves each of us very much. (JSH 1:14-17) (we used the 5X7 picture of the first vision available through distribution)

 

I is for Israel   -When Jesus was on earth, he lived in a place called Israel.  He loved to teach the people and tool special time to talk to the children.  (Matthew 5)  (we used a pass along card of Christ teaching the Beatitudes)

 

J is for Jesus Christ   -Jesus loves us very much.  He has made it possible for us to live with Heavenly Father again. (Romans 8:39, D&C 14:17)  (Her we use the traditional picture of Christ in the Red robe (I can’t remember its name right now). It is available in a 5X7 from Distribution)

 

K is for Kneeling   -Jesus showed us how to pray.  When we kneel down to say our prayers it shows Heavenly Father we love and respect Him. (Luke 22:41-44, Romans 8:39)  (Picture of Christ in Gethsemane)

 

L is for Love   -“Jesus loved the little children, little ones like me.” (CS-59)  (Mark 10:13-16)  (Any picture of Christ with the children will work)

 

M is for Mommy –“Mother I love you, Mother I do, Father in Heaven has sent me to you.”  (Use picture of Mommy)

 

N is for Nephites –“And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one Shepard.” Jesus visited the Nephites. (John 10:16, 3 Nephi)  (Pass along card showing Christ descending from the Heavens to the Nephites)

 

O is for Obedience -Even the wind and the sea obey Jesus’ commands.  I will obey his Commandments too. (Mark 4:36-41)

 

P is for Prophet –We have a prophet on earth today, His name is Gordon B Hinckley.  He tells us what Heavenly Father and Jesus want is to know. (Amos 3:7) (a picture of Pres Hinkley)

 

Q is for Quiet – “Today, dear Father, I will show how quiet I can be, to thank thee for the many things, thou hast given me.” (CS-27)  (Picture of the Christus and children folding arms (two separate pictures))

 

R is for Resurrection -Jesus was crucified, but three days late, He rose again.  He made it possible for all of us to be resurrected.  (John 11:25. Alma 33:22) (we used 2 pass along cards, one of Christ appearing to Mary outside the empty tomb, and Christ exiting the tomb)

 

S is for Scriptures –Reading the scriptures teaches us about Jesus, and all the things we need to do to live with Him again.  (Mosiah 1:7)  (we used a clip art picture of the Book of Mormon, you could also photocopy a page from the scriptures and use this)

 

T is for Tithing –We pay 10% of the money we earn to the Church.  The money helps build temples and churches all over the world.  (Here we used a photocopy of a tithing slip and a clip art from Val Chadwick Bagley showing a little girl and pennies that says Money for Me   Money for Jesus, use whatever you can find here)

 

U is for Utah –The pioneers left their homes and came across the plains with wagons and handcarts to settle in the State of Utah.  (I used clip art of pioneers, this was a little harder to find)

 

V is for Vision –A vision is a dream form God.  Lehi and Nephi had a vision of the tree of life, the Iron rod, and the straight and narrow path leading to it. (1 Nephi 8:11) (this was the hardest to find, we ended up printing a picture from LDS.org showing people following the iron rod to the tree of life)

 

W is for Word of Wisdom –WE can take car of our bodies by eating good food and staying away from strong drinks, tobacco, and other bad things. (D&C 89)  (Here we used pictures of healthy food and a no smoking sign (you know the red circle with a cigarette crossed out) this was also from clip art programs.)

 

X is for eXaltation –Exaltation is eternal life, the kind of life which God lives in the highest degree of the Celestial Kingdom, Forty days after his resurrection, Jesus left His Apostles and ascended into Heaven in a cloud to be exulted by the right hand of God.  (Here we used the picture of Christ in the clouds with the concourses of angels)

 

Y is for You- Heavenly Father made you special. There is no one else like you!  (here we used a picture of the child or children the book I for and a small circular mirror available at craft stores)

 

Z is for Zion –“And the Lord called his people ZION, because they were of one heart and one mind…” (Moses 7:18) (Here I used another Val Chadwick Bagley clip art of a group of people all dressed in while enjoying being together,  you could also use a picture of many members of the church.)
