Glass Block Lights

Photos Contributed by: Lisa from the HFPE Group

These are really super easy!! We did this last year for Super Saturday with Nativity images.

It's a little more expensive this way, but way easier...
Bought glass block banks from: http://lasercrafters.com/
(click on Glass Block Banks & Vases), scroll down to bottom for "BLANK BANKS and VASES"
We did the 6x6" ones.

--The banks already have the plug hole in them...saves so much effort!

For the images, I bought the Avery Full Sheet Clear Sticker Label: Avery 8665

For the nativity ones, I just printed the nativity clipart onto the labels, sized about 5x5, 2 per page.  I'm sure you could find temple pictures online to use instead.  Then you just trim around the image and stick onto the glass block, being sure to rub out any bubbles.

If you can find the shorter strands of clear lights with white cord, you just stick those in the hole at the bottom.  We used the 1 light that you can get for Christmas Village sets, because we couldn't find the smaller strands.

Then just wrap ribbon around the edge to cover up the hole and the bank coin slot on the top and tie a big bow.

It was so really easy, everyone was surprised by how easy it was, and how nicely they turned out.

Clipart Used For Christmas Themed Lights was from: Christian Clipart

When you're at the site, just click on the all-black picture of the Shepherds on the top right.

I would love to hear about how people frosted their glass blocks--the only problem I've had has been being able to see the individual lights to clearly inside the glass block. Can you attach vinyl lettering to the frost?
