Theme:  Preserving Memories

Played on the Precious Moments Theme

Chrys Solomon
Pineville Ward

1. Scrap booking 101  Preserving photos and photography tips
2. Personal History preserving your personal memories for generations.
3. Canning meat Preserving grandma’s recipes. Vegetables, meat, and fruit.

Hand outs were given.  Each person was to choose a class.  The classes were for 40 minutes.  Refreshments served were peach, blueberry, and cherry cobbler.

While planning this event I was a little unfamiliar because I was working off of another’s ideas.  I chose the personal history class.   A wonderful class.  We listened and then had the opportunity to write our own story and some shared their stories.  There were tears shed and we truly could understand the spirit of Elijah.  I received 4 different thank you cards from sisters in the mail the following week.  (38 sisters)

Publicity first wk.
Made chalk precious moment fliers.  Precious moments to play up the preserving memories theme.  A table was outside the RS room as well as the Primary room.  My daughter’s blessing blanket was spread out with pictures of her blessing and my scrapbook.  The other table had a Battenberg lace table cloth and our family picture and a framed Proclamation of the family and a few candles.
Set up a table with scrapbooks and had (2) 8 ½ x11 posters at each entrance.  They were canning jar fliers with the information written inside.

2nd Sunday
The fliers came back out and the tables were set up again.  The tables had pictures of my daughters baptism.  Really good eye catcher because they were black and whites and in 11x14 size.  Sign up sheet for nursery.

3rd Sunday
Wk. of enrichment pulled out all stops because it is my FIRST one.  (7 ) Canning jar fliers, tables set up, Precious Moment Angel reminders were throughout the building.  I decreased the angel in size and glued her to bright cardstock and put magnetic strips to the back for a refrigerator. Signs were everywhere.  The nursery, mothers lounge, bathroom doors, water fountain.  The walls which seemed a little bare had the number 19 in bright red taped.  Then hymns which were sung had the number 19 in it. I changed out the numbers in sacrament and made new ones they 1 and the 9 were bright red glued to a bright yellow background.  Big eye catcher.  If any of them forgot the #19 then nothing would make them remember.

They were given Hershey bite size bars the sisters candy read: This yummy treat I will eat enrichment night just can’t be beat!
You need the support of the Priesthood and they got candy too.
Anyone who was 12 and older.  They were to promise to encourage their moms and wives out of the house.  Their treat read:  This treat I will take a bite, To watch the kids Thurs. night.  Enrichments where she needs to be to help strengthen our family.  I promised the men that if their wives would come I would send her home stronger and rejuvenated.  Husbands said, If she won’t go I will show up for her.

That night I asked the women which husbands and children encouraged them to come out to enrichment.  10 said they had been encouraged. Those 10 were rewarded TWINKIES.  A note attached:  Thanks for being a Twinkie and following Pres. Hinckley.  (corny, I know! Work on a better one)  You should have seen the look of envy on the others in Priesthood.
Thank you cards were mailed and the following Sunday the teachers and care givers were given candy leis.
