Night At The Moviesby: Cathy Colton
We are "showing" three attractions which are really the mini-classes. The Poster- We made up a cute poster that looks like an advertisement from the newspaper complete with the titles of the movies and then critics remarks. For the "Scream" movie, we put "Two thumbs up!" and "now summer will never be the same again" As the reviews for this one. For the "Mission Impossible 21" movie, we put "Sister Kirk does it again!! She has another number one hit on her hands!" as her review. For the "Incredible Journey" movie, we put our Bishop's "review" of this movie as "Most Inspirational Movie of the Year!!" on the poster.
The Set-Up- We are using the primary room, yw and rs rooms and they will rotate to all three. Each room will have the chairs lined up like movie seats. We bought our tickets at local party store, they came on a roll and were a penny each. We could have made them on the computer, but we felt it would take too much time and they would be thrown away.
Refreshment Stand- Each sister will get a set of tickets when she comes in and a drink and popcorn too. We are using the food committee to serve the at the concession stand.
The "Movies" (Mini-classes) SCREAM! The first "Movie" is on what to do with your kids during the summer. The sister who is teaching "Scream" is using ideas from Family Fun Magazine , as well as field trip ideas to do with your kids ie: visit the fire dept, local newspaper, etc. She also called the visitor's bureau and got a lot of ideas of things to do in are area that are fun and free. Mission Impossible 21 This class is on de-cluttering and organizing. The sister who is doing the de-cluttering class is too cute. She freely admits that she is not a pro at keeping things in line. She has taken pictures of her pantry and cupboards as before pictures and then after ones. She really is a good sport to do this for us.
The Incredible Journey The third class is on a 14 day walk with Christ, which is a challenge to strengthen their testimony of the Savior. I found this idea on Christy's YW art page. I changed a few of the stories that were better suited to Relief Society sisters. The teacher of this class is having the Relief Society room decorated with artwork of the Savior. The challenge will be printed up and each sister will take one home with her.
This wonderful HFPE night was shared by: Cathy Colton. Way to go, Cathy! How creative you are!
