Ideas to go With The Enrichment Cottage Downloads
If you have purchase a download and have additional information/ ideas/ pictures to share, send it and be entered to win our monthly drawing for a free HFPE Night download! Thank you for your inspiring ideas for HFPE Meetings. I have enjoyed the packets that I have received. I appreciate when you mention some of the classes that you give a web site for more information. Here are some ideas that could be included in future packets: 1. A Sunday lesson teacher could present a class at HFPE meeting as the "activity" part of the lesson that she gave on Sunday. (David O McKay lessons) For instance Lesson 22 on Agency and Responsibility could be a game on choices or a more in-depth presentation of the lesson could be given. This would be especially good for those sisters who serve in Y.W. and Primary. 2. To encourage sisters to come early for the meeting so that it can begin on time have a "early bird" tasters table with foods made from food storage. 3. Set up a Visiting Teaching table at HFPE. One idea would be to print the highlights of the message on one side of an index card and a recipe on the other side. For instance: If the V.T. message were to be on temples, the recipe could be divinity or? The sisters could take the cards to the people they visit teach. 4. As I read the instructions for the Y.W. transition to R.S., the Young Women are to help plan a HFPE meeting that they would attend. It would be nice to have an idea folder that would be good for a joint meeting. (Editors Note: And now we do) 5. You have been presenting the topics as outlined (10). We usually have a special meeting at the Dec. HFPE Meeting - centered around Christ. A packet for such a meeting would be helpful. (Editors Note: Coming soon!) 6. Parenting idea: To help pre-teens and teens learn about the prophets of the church, have a "bowl" game. Ask the young people to read in the New Era or other book about the life of the prophet (such as President Hinckley) then have a "bowl" full of questions. If they answer the questions correctly, they earn points and they can "buy" treats or gifts with the points. (candy bars, notebook, pen, etc.) This is a good way to give incentive to study, for this age group. 7. I enjoy the HFPE meetings where sisters can come in a costume to get the feel of the meeting (such as the 50's packet) - that would be such a fun evening. 8. The packet on the Oriental Express was great. I think I would tie a fortune cookie to the invite handout and encourage sisters to attend. Sometimes, sisters just put the handout in their handbag and forget to look at it, but if there is an ITEM attached, they REMEMBER!
Keep up the good work, I look forward to the packets - you are so creative and I love your ideas and how they are organized and presented. Thank you, Anne Mortensen
