Keys To Effective Scripture Study Habit
- develop, nurture and

a. choose a place to
ponder - free of the business of the day
b. choose a time ( put it first - as in tithing)
c. Choose your text Prayer -
prepare yourself to listen to the spirit before you start reading
Read carefully
a. ask questions about the
author, date of writing, language written in ( Good example : Luke
probably never met the Savior personally.)
b. read slowly
c. Make time your goal not number of pages or verses
d. Read the passages in context.
Good example - Corinthians 13 passage written to correct early Christians on
the practice of speaking in tongues , Charity was part of the message. Need to
go back to 1 Cor. 11 to really see the big picture.
e. Scripture chains, and footnotes add to the reading, skip around the
scriptures and see again the big picture.
