Duties of Newsletter Editor

 Contributed by: Deena B.

  1. Work with the Enrichment Counselor to ensure contact is made with the sisters in our ward serving in YW, Primary and the Library (as well as sisters who are note contact only for visiting teaching.)

  1. Prepare a monthly newsletter for distribution on the last Sunday of the month. This will allow the visiting teachers for note contact sisters to have the letters at the beginning of the month. Give the master copy to the Enrichment Counselor for copying.

  1. The newsletter should include:

                                                         i.            Front Cover:

a.       A summary or excerpt of the Visiting Teaching message from the current Ensign.

b.      The month and year of the newsletter.

                                                       ii.            Back Cover:

a.       A recipe of the month. This should be a recipe from a recent Enrichment Night.  If there is no recipe available, use an easy recipe you have in your collection.

b.      A household cleaning tip. You may co-ordinate with the ward cleaning specialist for a tip if you choose.

c.       The names and phone numbers of the ward Relief Society Presidency.

d.      The month and year of the newsletter.

                                                      iii.            Inside Cover:

a.       Birthdays of the sisters for the current month

b.      Two or three sisters spotlights

c.       Enrichment Night Announcement.

d.      Upcoming ward/stake events for the month

e.       The month’s Relief Society lessons

f.        A thought or short quote if room allows.

  1. Keep the birthday list current. The RS Secretary should have a list of the move-ins/outs.

5.   Keep a record of the items you have used (sisters spotlighted, cleaning tips, recipes, etc)

6.   Attend Relief Society board meetings. The RS Enrichment Counselor is over your calling.
