Relief Society Birthday Centerpieces

I was going to use a brandy snifter and tint the water blue float a daisy and tie the bottom of the glass with gold ribbon and spread metallic confetti on the table.

You could ask 9 sisters in your ward to make their favorite birthday cake that was always special in their family. Tell them to make it a two layered round one and use it for the centerpiece. Sprinkle confetti and curled ribbon around it on the table. Or you could have them all bake one recipe with that 7 min frosting (the sticky one) with the color theme and get matching napkins. Personally I think it would be great fun to be asked to make one and the sticky 2 layered one was my favorite one that my mom always made for my birthday in light pink. With the cheap Costco cakes now a days I bet lots of the younger sisters have never tasted the heavenly cakes we grew up with in the 50's and even earlier.

P.S. The cakes would be the dessert for each table. If the cakes are all different it will be fun to see which tables the sisters are drawn to sit at.  You know which one I'd be at!!!!!!!

Sticky Frosting..............1/2 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. water
1/4 c. light corn syrup
2 egg whites
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix sugar, water and corn syrup in saucepan. Cover pan; bring to rolling boil. Remove cover and cook to 242 or until syrup spins a 6 to 8 inch thread. Just  before syrup is ready, beat egg whites until stiff enough to hold a point.
Pour hot syrup very slowly in a thin stream into the beaten egg whites. Continue beating until frosting holds a peak. Blend in flavoring with spatula. You can add a few drops of food coloring if desired. Instead of vanilla you can use 1/2 tsp. of lemon extract or 1 Tbsp. of lemon juice.

You can use any cake mix but my mom always made angel food cake from scratch for this frosting. It has many names but we always just called it sticky frosting. They make pretty good angel food cake mixes now that are much easier than from scratch and taste pretty close to the real thing. Have  fun....................

How about some spring flowers, some fall leaves, a table Christmas tree and a shovel and pail???? You could split your number of tables by number of seasons........spring could include St. Patrick's day, Easter, flowers, gardening, summer could include, 4th of July, pioneer day stuff, roadmaps, toy cars (vacation), shovel and pail, swimming floaties, fall could include leaves, pumpkins, school type stuff, etc. Christmas are the obvious ones.....nativity, trees, angels, presents, etc. Hope this helps!
