Relief Society Transition Committee

By: Sis. Johnson (lifeisschool)

The Relief Society Transition committee has been established to, above all, help sisters going through significant changes in their lives in persuading them to come closer to Christ, to feel His love and find peace in His gospel. It should be of particular benefit to:

  • New ward move-ins
  • Young Women entering Relief Society
  • Investigators
  • Less-active sisters
  • Newly baptized sisters
  • Non-member wives of men on ward records
  • Families moving out of the ward

The Relief Society Transition committee shall be comprised of the following:

  • Relief Society president
  • Compassionate Service leader
  • Visiting Teaching leader
  • Transition committee leader
  • Transition committee members

The committee will work closely with the Bishop and full-time and ward missionaries. The committee members will be given new assignments on a monthly basis and will return and report to the committee leader who, in turn, will report to the Relief Society president. The Relief Society president reports to the Bishop.

The committee members may be called upon to perform the following services, including, but not limited to:

  1. Welcoming new sisters into the ward, by visiting them and taking them a welcome packet.
  2. Accepting short-term visiting teaching assignments.
  3. Offering a home for sister investigators to take the discussions.
  4. Giving rides to sisters who do not have transportation to church activities.
  5. Special friend-shipping and/or mentoring of a sister as invited by the Relief Society president.
  6. Discovering and reporting special needs.

"We cannot endure to the end alone. It is important that we help by lifting and strengthening one another." —Elder Robert D. Hales
