We Are Sisters
c)1994 Dianna Gilliam
We are sisters...
All colors, ages, shapes, and sizes;
Each unique and yet so much alike.
Daughters of God, queens in embryo;
Learning as we grow in spirit toward one another.
Our interests vary,
Our skills are not the same;
Yet as the variegated skein unwinds
We discover it makes up into a beautiful pattern
in our Father's skillful hands.
We are sisters...
Giving, receiving, sharing, caring;
Serving with no thought of earthly reward...
being sweetly bold as occasion demands.
Reaching out, to help and be helped;
Lifting others, being lifted...
coming to understand that we are not alone.
We are sisters...
Sisters bound together in a society like no other...
Beyond sorority.
Mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, cousins,
grandmothers, teachers;
Preserving, nurturing, insuring our destiny with our deeds.
Giving thanks for our duties and blessings
and going the extra mile.
We are sisters...
Building testimonies, supporting priesthood;
Keeping our fire burning bright
as a beacon to guide others from darkness.
Strengthening one another, our families, and friends;
Sustaining, maintaining without murmur;
Loving our Saviour and our fellow man.
Seeking His light and gaining wisdom---
Charity, indeed, never faileth!
We are sisters...
Daughters of God, queens in embryo.
