Hands of Heaven on Earth
VT Conference

We had our visiting teaching convention on Sunday. It went really well.
Thought I'd give you the run down: First, we had the support of the Bishop in
getting the priesthood to cover primary and young women's so the teachers could
attend Relief Society. We also had the Stake Primary Presidency come to help
run primary. Our theme was "Hands of Heaven on Earth." The program went as
follows:
The meeting started with the Relief Society president giving a few
thoughts about the importance of VT. She gave specific examples of the many
wonderful things the "hands" of the sisters had done for one another in our
ward.
Following her remarks, we had a musical number called "My Hands." It is
a Lex DeAzevado song from the Animated Scriptures. Then we had three sisters
give 2-3 minute testimonies/examples of how a visiting teacher touched (or
changed in some cases) her life.
The bishop then spoke for a few minutes and we
concluded with a slide show. For the slide show, I went around a few weeks
before the event and took pictures of the sisters' hands doing different acts of
service. I made a slide show of these pictures interspersed with pictures of
the Savior's hands. I used the Jenny Frogley arrangement of Kenneth Cope's "His
Hands", to correspond to the slides! It
was beautiful.
The whole program was great. Everyone in attendance was
touched. Usually, we tend to dread the VT convention, but I know everyone there
was glad that they came!
