Noah And His Dilemma

Noah And His Dilemma

NARRATOR

This is an imaginary conversation between God and Noah before the flood. Any resemblance to persons living or dead should be thoroughly scrutinized!!!!

GOD (a little kind to begin and then becoming impatient)

Noah.....................
Noah...............................
Noah..............................................
NOAH
Yes, Lord. I'm in here cleaning out the stalls. Be right there.

GOD

Hello, Noah. I'm just checking to see how you are coming on that assignment I gave you last year.

NOAH

Which assignment are you referring to?

GOD

The Ark, the animals........................ you know. The "two by two" assignment.

NOAH

Oh, yeah, that one.
Well..............I have been able to locate all the animals of every kind
in pairs except that elusive Unicorn. Wouldn't you know......every time I
can find one, this is all I hear ------------
I can't go right now, I have a headache, I haven't got a babysitter, I don't have the time, My schedule won't permit it, I have other family obligations,
I have too much stuff to do, I don't know anyone on the Ark, I don't get to see my family enough as it is, I can't fit that into my busy, busy day,
nobody there likes me, what would people think, that's not MY job, I have
better things to do, it's no fun and on and on and on and on. Those unicorns are a fickle lot, aren't they?
You would think they would pick up some of the traits of the other
animals----having lived with them for so long. Why they could be like the
giraffes and stick their necks out, or like the dog who is man's best
friend, or they could be like the elephant that never forgets, or they could be bullish, or they could be like chickens and lay eggs, or they could be like the birds and feather others' nests, or they could be busy little
beavers, or a million other kinds of animals, but NoooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOO
............................... they want to be solitary, alone, lonely,
single UNICORNS!

What am I to do? Woe is me. I have tried everything to coax TWO onto the Ark and I can't even get ONE. Not a single unicorn. They always have an excuse.
And, Lord, they WOULD be a nice addition to the group, don't you think?
Fickle and all. And I know you want one of EVERYTHING.

GOD

Well, Noah, there has to be a way to get them to come aboard. I have given you the assignment and it is up to you to complete it. You will be blessed for following the commandments I have given you. Remember that it is an unwise and slothful servant who has to be commanded in all things. You have a brain and a very sharp one at that. You also have done what I have asked of you in the past. You will be able to get those stubborn animals on board, of that I am sure.

NOAH

Yes, Lord, I will go and do what you have asked of me.

NARRATOR

Later, we find the Lord again speaking to Noah.

GOD (a little louder each time)

Noah....................
Noah.........................
Noah........................................

NOAH

Here I am, Lord.

GOD

Noah, did you do as I commanded?

NOAH (hesitantly)

Wellllllllllllllllllllllllll ..................................

GOD (impatiently)

NOAH!!!

NOAH

You see, Lord, I was able to get ONE of those Unicorns on board. But I
couldn't convince any TWO of them to come on board. I tried to explain how blessed their lives would be if they obeyed you, but they wouldn't heed. I tried to explain to them that they would be a support for each other, they could protect one another, they could help each other in discerning others' needs, and they could serve as witnesses for each other. They have chosen to disobey. I have tried my best.

GOD

Then the race of Unicorns shall perish, because I, the Lord, commanded that they shall come in two by two, not one by one. I have said that I will
destroy the earth with a flood. The Ark is completed, the animals and your family are on board. I will not wait for a disobedient Unicorn. Get thee on board the Ark, Noah, and close it up until it rests on dry land once more.

NOAH (pleading)

But, Lord.............

GOD (getting angry)

NOAH.........................

NOAH

Yes, Lord

NARRATOR

So you see, by obeying commandments we may be saved, but disobeying the commandments brings destruction. Going two by two is a commandment with a purpose--for safety, for a witness, to more fully discern needs, to give added support, to provide protection for one another, and to serve as
witnesses for each other when observing needs, presenting the message, and interacting. Other blessings are received as we are obedient. Going one by one is an unwise decision---for you may be left behind.

END My husband played Noah and the RS Ed Counselor's son played God-who was behind a curtain and spoke unseen.
